All it costs is the life of one senator, one criminal, and the self-respect of one ex-assassin. I don't know about you, but I'd call that a bargain.Such a wonderful villain. Hate that bitch. Wish her actress had done more, she's incredibly talented.It was a great line as it speaks volumes to John's Wick character. I loved that most everything you learn about John Wick comes from other characters reaction to him.

The thing with that scene is...who is Jimmy? The bad guys know John from working with him. Most of the hotel people and clean up crew have interactions with him for the gold coins. Here we have what appears to be an honest cop(?) responding to a call at John's house who knows John well enough to know his business. Was he checking to see if John is ok? Are they old friends? Was Jimmy in the business too before becoming a cop? John didn't have to bribe him with the coins. It was a pretty friendly exchange.

And that's part of what elevates the storytelling in John Wick above what we're used to seeing in action movies of this type. There's obviously a story there, a lot of history, but we don't need the specifics. Just seeing they way they interact is more than enough. Such a great flick...I always figured that Jimmy had plenty of run-ins with John Wick and knew that he was really good about keeping his "business" to himself. He could try to arrest John Wick for multiple homicides, maybe live to make the court date, just to watch John walk away on a self-defense plea and live in fear for the rest of your life...

There's always the fact that anytime there's an issue, Jimmy is the one to respond. It provides paperwork for law enforcement to point to, saying the issue was looked into. It provides witnesses, seeing law enforcement respond to the issue. It also provides the criminal organization with a "hey, people are noticing" alert, so they can quiet down.He's also not immortal, which helps a lot. Many action films depict the protagonist as an unstoppable god who never misses and somehow avoids every bullet, blade, and all other harm to come out victorious in the end. John Wick sold that feeling of the protagonist being a badass, but they did it through the other characters and the way they perceived him, and despite that perception, he actually gets pretty beat up several times throughout the film.

Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, and its sequel Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, brought him international recognition.I just hope this new movie doesn't give all the details about the underground away-- people think they want to know details like this, but the more detailed something is, the less our imagination fills in, and the less we will like it. Unless it is perfectly done. And even then, I would argue we tend to fill in details as to how our brains like to see things-- so for everyone we imagine different things but ultimately all love it far more for it.
